Over 6 years I have helped raise $6,000+ Volunteering for SOS's Great American Bake Sale (GABS) is such a rewarding experience. I volunteered my time with Kelsey MacDonald, a high school student I mentor, raising money for the NH Food Bank and Share Our Strength. Kelsey and I had a lot of bake sales last summer. We made a lot of chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, banana bread, and so much more! We want to thank our team of over 20 bakers who baked a difference for the entire summer. It was a community effort to come together and raise money for SOS AND the NH Food Bank. We partnered with 4 local businesses Sweet Dreams Bakery, Saint Anthony's Bakery, Shaws, and Sams Club. With out the support of local businesses we wouldn't have been as successful as we were. It was helpful for the bakeries to donate treats for us to sell and it was helpful for the corporations to donate gift cards so wecould buy baking items! It really was a team effort to help feed people in our state and across America. We donated half to SOS and half to the NH Food Bank. It was a successful summer and we all had fun. In total this summer we raised close to $1,000. We hosted bake sales at the Stratham Fair, Swasey Park concert series, and the Exeter Parks and Recreation. We impacted over 180 kids at the Exeter Parks and Recreation at the Lollipop Festival on August 12, 2009.
